I was born and raised in Columbus, OH (GO BUCKS: BEAT MICHIGAN!!!) and remember reading Sherlock Holmes for school in the seventh grade. In high school I read all the Doyle stories for fun and have been hooked ever since.
Currently, I write a regular column - MYSTERY: CAUGHT IN THE NET - for Sherlock magazine. I review Holmes and other mystery-themed websites and have also contributed fiction and essays. I also had a story in the Canadian pastiche collection, Curious Incidents. My first review included: "..it's a nice conceit, let down only by some clumsy writing." Not bad; certainly could have been worse. Other non-Holmes fiction includes an ongoing series of stories featuring the characters from the classic film, Casablanca.
Outside of Holmes things, I have been an Ultimate (Frisbee) player for thirteen years. Highlights have included playing in the 1998 Ultimate Players Association (UPA) National Coed Championship game (we lost) and finishing fifth at the 1999 World Club Championships. Both were with the Colorado Springs team, Pira Haku. For more information on the great sport of Ultimate and that team, see the “Other Links” section. I split my exercise time now between Ultimate and mountain biking.
Other interests include Jack the Ripper, the I Ching, Jimmy Buffett, hard-boiled mystery fiction, the Civil War, the Knights Templar and Pittsburgh Steeler and OSU football..
