HOLMES ON SCREEN
Welcome to the most ambitious part of this website. Here, growing slowly, you will find a series of essays covering Sherlock Holmes on screen from 1903 through 2000. This is an ongoing project and will not be completed for some time. However, you will find much more detail than the individual entries in the Actors' Gallery. You may still want to view entries there if something here grabs your fancy. And visit the Definitive Holmes to read about the four actors who shaped our image of Sherlock Holmes.
The first set of essays have embedded graphics and can take a long time to load. I've also included hypertexted versions of them. The articles are the same, they're just two different ways to see the graphics. Enjoy!
NBC first broadcast Holmes on television on November 27, 1937. Louis Hector starred in The Three Garridebs.
