Harry Edwards
W.H. Hyde illustrated all but one of The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes for Harper's Weekly in 1892 and 1893. The Final Problem, however, made its initial appearance in McLure's Magazine. Therefore, the eleven drawings for this story were done by Harry Edwards. The picture to the left could have gone down in Holmes lore. It is Watson's last view of Holmes as he left him at the Reichenbach Falls. If Doyle had left his detective dead, submerged at the base of the Falls, this would have been the last original drawing from the Canon. Edwards did not illustrate any more Holmes stories.
